Guided Imagery

Harness the power of mind and body — Experience Guided Imagery paired with Pelvic Floor Therapy for profound, lasting healing.

What is Guided Imagery?

As avid believers in the powers of guided  imagery, we offer patients this unique avenue to heal during their pelvic floor physical therapy treatments.

Guided imagery is a relaxation technique that has been proven in clinical studies to reduce pain and improve function. This treatment avenue can better manage trauma, sadness, anger, stress, fear, grief and symptoms and pain. It can assist the autonomic nervous system to shift into the parasympathetic state – Rest and Digest- where healing occurs and the pelvic floor relaxes.

Sarton PT is proud to partner with Rhona Jordan, a renowned expert in the field, to bring the benefits of guided imagery to our patients. Rhona is available to work with our PT staff in the treatment room in efforts to decrease stress and anxiety and reduce chronic pain.

What to Expect

During a guided imagery session, you’ll relax on the treatment table while our therapist Rhona gently leads you through personalized images and messages designed to reframe limiting beliefs, release stored tension, and support healing of your specific condition. Each session is recorded so you can replay it at home, reinforcing the new healing story and deepening the benefits as you self-treat at your own pace.

The major attraction of imagery is its ability to help us figure out why we may have gotten stuck or perhaps even sick in the first place, which in turn can offer important clues and avenues for healing.

Typical duration and frequency

You can do single sessions or several based on what si needed.

Sensations and safety considerations

Research has shown that imagery can reduce high blood pressure, eases premenstrual symptoms, promotes weight loss, and lessens anxiety, depression and the urge to smoke. It releases powerful chemical changes in all the systems of the body. Example: Imagine a noisy bee caught in your hair, or biting into a sour lemon or smelling a rose. Or blood flow and healing nutrients bathing your pudendal nerve and pelvic floor muscles allowing you to sit or have sex without any pain.
